Natural, local and bioregional buildings contribute to ecologically sound local economies and create beautiful, healthy homes and villages to live our lives in.
We will teach you how to locate materials and properly site natural buildings as well as research building materials to determine how ecologically safe and sound they are.
We will introduce you to the untapped potential of passive solar hot water systems and bio-digesters for domestic heating and cooking as well as how to eliminate household sources of electro-magnetic fields and clean indoor air pollutants.
In this installment of our Naturally Built Tiny House series we will mix and apply earthen plasters onto straw bales on the inside and outside of our tiny house. We will also begin to put in windows and doors, finish a sleeping loft, roof the back porch, put up siding and install sub-flooring.
We will also cover:
Framing buildings with on site poles and rough cut local lumber
Using passive solar building techniques
Selecting building structures and sacred sites with good feng shui
Integrating natural energy systems
Using natural insulation
Harvesting rainwater for domestic needs
Greywater for gardens
Please bring work clothes, boots, and gloves and dress for the weather. Everyone always has a great time in this workshop and if it’s warm enough we will take a trip to the local swimming hole!
